It is possible to enter into a short-term lease contract without a BKR check. However, this varies depending on the leasing company. With most leasing companies, when you enter into a lease agreement, you will be registered with the Bureau Krediet Registratie (BKR) in Tiel. This is because by entering into a (private) lease contract, you are undertaking a financial obligation for a longer period (>12 months). Your lease contract can thus be considered as a personal loan. Since April 1, 2022, the total amount you pay to the leasing company throughout the duration of your lease contract is 100 percent registered with the BKR. For example, if you pay €400 per month and your lease contract runs for 24 months, you will be registered with the BKR for an amount of 24 x 400 = €9,600. However, this is not the case with Blankert Shortlease, as we work based on flexible short-term lease contracts without longer durations, which can be terminated at any time after one month. Blankert Shortlease is not affiliated with a quality mark and therefore does not have access to the BKR.
Why does Blankert Shortlease not engage in BKR registrations?
As mentioned above, with a regular private lease contract, you undertake a payment obligation for a longer period. However, this is not the case with short-term leasing. After the first month, you have the option to return your car at any time and thus terminate the agreement. Therefore, you can immediately terminate your payment obligation if your financial situation no longer allows it or if you no longer need your leased car. Hence, at Blankert Shortlease, we do not engage in BKR registrations.
Credit check required beforehand
At Blankert Shortlease, we do not register you with the BKR. However, we do want to ensure that you can meet your payment obligation when you decide to short-lease a car from us. Therefore, based on your information, we always conduct a credit check.
