The main difference, not entirely surprising, is the contract duration. Short-term lease contracts can be obtained starting from one month and can be terminated daily without consequences thereafter. This does not apply to operational lease, which is intended for the longer term. However, the monthly fee for operational lease is lower than that of short-term lease.

Apart from the lease term and the monthly fee, short-term lease and operational lease rely on the same principle: worry-free driving of a (nearly) new car, equipped with all the luxuries. You pay a fixed monthly amount, which includes insurance, road tax, roadside assistance, and maintenance. Only the fuel is at your own expense.
